\"OTTOMAN MIDDLE EAST FOREHEAD / CHESTPACHA GILDED SILVER HORSE ORNAMENT - CRESCENT \" Very rare to unique 17th to 18th century gilded silver Ottoman Pacha\'s horseforehead orchestornamentin the shape of Sacred Muslim Crescent symbol.It is decorated in Baroquestyle typicalfloraldecoration, with a central hangingornament with geometric shapes, inOttoman-Turkish style and corals.Such horse ornaments were popular among the Ottomancavalry Sipahi,during the 17th & 18th centuries, as symbol of bravery.These type ornamentswere made of boar tusks and mounted in silver or bronzedepending ontherank of the Ottoman elite, such as State Officers, Pachas or Beys, for severalceremonial uses , such as Parade animals in festivals, publicappearances,War ceremonies e.t.c.It is really very rare to find one today, in several sales,and mostly reaches very higher prices,from the asking here price. The only known similar example in Greece, is that which is publishedon page 121 of Robert Elgood \"Arms of Greece and her BalkansNeighborhoods\". (image attached).
