Wonderful vintage/antique Guatemalan painted wood Saint sculpture/figure. This appears to be an older piece that was part of another religious display: There are three areas on the bottom sides, one still with a nail, where it was attached to another base; The very bottom shows hand-carved lines; the Saint would have had arms. But piece was repainted with black, white, and red (blood? flames?) in a way that moves it beyond its original intent, and makes it a fabulous piece of folk art worth being in any art collection. 8 1/2\" H
Sculpturecame from a collector of Guatemalan material, who personally travels to Guatemala and hand picks only the best, older, and more unusual pieces he finds.
