Antique Pair Of Chinese Export Silver Boxes With Matching Flower VasesHere is a beautiful matched pair of Chinese export silver filigree lidded boxes, with a matching pair of silver filigree flower vases. These are beautifully made and are very fine and delicate.
They are marked on the bottom with 3 Chinese marks.
I believe they show that the boxes were made in Chengdu China by the silversmith Li Sheng. I believe they were made in the 1930s.I have tested these boxes and the candle sticks and they are good quality silver. I have read that many Chinese silversmiths used silver coins to make their items.There is a silver box very similar to these in the British Victoria and Albert Museum although theirs is round. You can check it out boxes measure approximately 3 1/2\" inches tall or 8.89cm.
The boxes measure approximately 3 1/4\" inches wide or 8.225cm.
Combined they weigh approximately 191 grams.
The flower vases measure approximately 4 1/2\" inches tall or 11.43cm.
The flower vases measure across the base approximately 3\" inches across or 7.62cm.Combined they weigh approximately 78.5 grams.These boxes and flower vases are in good condition for their age. The top lid on one is slightly bent and moved to one side and the balls on the feet are a little bent.
On the flower vases you can see a small gap where it looks as if a piece of filigree has come apart.
Please remember that these are very delicate antique pieces that need to be treated gently.
They show signs of use and wear.I have not polished these pieces they are just as they were found. Some people like to polish silver so it gleams, and some like to just bring up the highlights. I shall leave the polishing for you, so you may polish it to your own standards.
Please look closely at the photos, you can see some green but that is from the solder that they used to hold the wire together.
