Antique Persian Qajar Tinned Copper Bowl Hallmarked&signed Dated 1288=1870/1 Ad :
Antique Persian tinned copper/bronze Tawiz magic bowl with rounded profile and plain base ,dating back to the reign of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar .Diameter 15 cm ,height 5.5 cm .The bowl is totally engraved inside[note the band withfive floral madallionsinterspersed with the five medallions depicting Inanna , surrounded by star-like patterns,circles with radiating lines (2nd , 3rd & 4th pic) and a central medallion with arabic inscription and numbers (1271?)(1st & 5th pic)],and partially engravedon the exterior,in the belt under the slightly everted lip (8th pic) of the rim, under the wavy lines decoration(6th & 7thpic)there's a triple row of dents (hammer strikes). The bowlhas been bought on location about late 1950s . If you enlarge the last pic you'll see on the plain base the hallmark (in the middle),a "cartouche" with a signature that I haven't been able to decipher , and the date 1288 in arabic numbers .Conditions as in pics.( the orange/red color that you see in 3rd & 4th pic is due to the light , not to the copper that still is tin-coated)
