How sweet is this figurine. An egg is being chiseled by a rabbitartisan. He has a fur like coleslawfinish to the porcelain like you see in some old snowbabies of this era. He is clearly a workman. He’s wearing a work apron. It is so detailed there are even little tieson the back. He has a chisel in the handnear the egg and a mallet in the other.The little tips of the handles are intact. The piece is an overall soft beige, whichmakes his handpainted face the focus of the piece. He’s wearing a serious expression. The egg is also quite detailed, as is theplinth, which has a wonderful mossy look.

The entire piece is about 4” tall and 3 ½” across. There is some loss to the tips of the ears,which is clearly shown in the photos.Otherwise, I see no problems.

The markings on this rabbit are illegible. It is very detailed and finely made: so muchso I looked for a Meissen mark. Thereare some incised places on the bottom, but they are beyond me to decipher. They could just be scrapes made in the claybefore firing. There are numbers in redink: they are 2458 and on a different line, 59.He is almost certainly of German make.
