Over the years I had the pleasure to collect many unique and beautiful bead strands and this is just the most amazing one. From a local estate, Iacquiredthis beautiful strand of beads - Ibelievethey are called Faturan - originated from theMiddle East and appeared around the same time when Bakelite was invented. Who started this is unknown and you can find 100 types of stories on the internet. This type of beads are a mixture, some have real amber power, some ofessence all mixed with some sort of resin. There was never a big manufacturer, and each make kept their own secret receipe. They are not tested positive for Bakelite and should not be. Otherwise, there won\'t be another name.

Necklace is 28 inches long wearable length and thelargestbeads are 3/4 inches. They are translucent and glowslikefire under the sun. each bead has aplane looking inclusion which is really cool. You can see the carving marks on the beads -- they are not uniformed shaped because of the handcraftsmanship. So unique and sobeautiful -truly a gem for Faturan or vintage costume collectors. No clasp, just pull over.
