Russian Enameled Creamer Pitcher

*** A Rare and Beautiful Piece! ***

This sale is for a beautiful, Russian silver enameled creamer. It measures approximately 3 1/4\" high, 4 1/2\" long (from handle to spout), and 3\" wide and it weighs 170 grams on our postal scale. The enamel work is absolutely stunning, with deep purple, white, bright blue, and turquoise embellishments all over. At the top of the handle, there is a separately applied silver knob which contains a deep red gemstone cabochon. It looks like there might have been another one of these silver knobs applied to the bottom of the handle but it is missing (there is a little hole on the bottom of the handle that indicates that something might be missing there).

The bottom is hallmarked with a signature \"GK\". We believe this is a mark of Gustav Klingert, an artist who worked extensively with Faberge. It bears the mark \"B.N. / 1884\", the Moscow assay mark for Vasily Aleksandrovich Petrov. The mark \"84\" for 840 silver content. And, finally, the Moscow city mark of St. George Slaying the Dragon hallmark which appears to date this piece to around 1873.
