Antique Russian Icon circa 1890 St. Nicholas of Myra egg tempera on wood:

Very old Russian icon, crafted sometime between 1880-1910. Egg tempera on curved wood depicting St. Nicholas of Myra.
The decorations on his headwear is raised and may be gold leaf or silver. Wear and tear is as one would expect given its age - some fading, and some very small sections of paint are chipped or scraped away on his left hand, on his lip, and to the left of the upper-left corner of the bible. The icon is on dark wood and the overall appearance is somewhat dark, but with lighting you can highlight the bright colors used originally. I tried to represent both in the photos.
Dimensions - the icon tapers just a little from top to bottom, so I am giving both the width at the top and the width at the bottom:
5 & 1/2\" wide (top) 5 & 3/8\" wide (bottom), by 7 & 5/8\" tall, by 3/4\" thick
13.97 cm wide (top) 13.65 cm wide (bottom), by 19.37 cm tall, by 1.91 cm is some writing on the back of the icon; I don\'t know if it was added when it was made, perhaps an artist\'s signature or a regional notation? I have no idea but if you do and would like to share, I\'d love to know!
Based on my limited knowledge, the style looks to me very much like art from the Provincial School, or possibly Suzdal School or St. Petersburg School.
