Antique Russian Imperial 84 Sterling Silver Niello Caucasus Kindjal Belt Buckle:

Up for sale is an antique Russian Imperial 84 or .875 silver niello belt buckle set circa 1900. Ensemble consists of a silver belt buckle with silver dagger clasp, studs, and bars on a low carat gold thread strap lined in red satin silk. Buckle measures 2 inches tall by 2 3/4 inches wide. Dagger clasp measures 1 3/4 inches long on a 2 inch chain. The bars measure 1 1/2 inches tall by just under 1/2 of an inch wide. The silver studs measure 1/2 of an inch in diameter. Belt measures 25 3/4 inches long in circumference and 1/2 of an inch wide. Belt is hallmarked in several places. The buckle is marked ‘KЯ’ alongside the ’84’ fineness mark and the left-facing kokoshnik mark, followed by the ‘ѲK’ or Fyodor Petrovich Konovalov (ѲeДop ПeTpoBИЧ KoHoBaЛoB) assay mark. Both sides of the buckle are marked with small crosses made of zigzag lines. The dagger as well as the bars are marked with the kokoshnik mark. The bars also have the ‘ѲK’ assay mark. Belt is good condition for age win minimal wear and tarnish to the silver and low karat gold threads. Piece has only two distinct flaws; one of the silver studs is missing, but can possibly be replicated and replaced by a jeweler, and the buckle has a small crack along the tip where it connects with its other half. The inscription on the buckle reads ‘KaBka3Ъ’ or Caucasus. It dates between 1898 and 1908.
