Antique black basalt handled basket with relief molded wilderness scene in center. This piece is coming from the estate collection of a man who was considered an authority on English ceramics. He collected these over his lifetime and had unlimited funds to afford them. I date this piece to the early 19th century.This piece is marked \"S&O\" on underside, which I could not identify. It looks and feels like an early Wedgewood piece. Dark brown / black in color. Please email if you have further suggestions. Condition:
