ANTIQUE DOUBLE FRAMED 13x9 CLOTH BOUND SCHOOL WRITING SLATE
UNBELIEVABLE FIND IN FANTASTIC CONDITION! 1800\'S CHILD\'S WRITING TABLET
These old schoolhouse writing slates are no longer practical to use as originally intended, but they now serve nicely aswonderful primitive displays items or message boards. This onemeasures 13\" long x 9\" wide & is over 2 pounds.
Both of the frames & the slates are in good used condition. The slateis fully intact with no cracks or chips but does show some light scratches here & there. There is some chalk writing on the inside boards...it was there when I found this item so I have left it intact for the buyer to decide whether they wish to erase it. The wooden frames are bound together with the original cloth wrap & binding cords (as was done in the day to keep the 2 slates together). All wear on this awesome slate is consistent with much handling over theyears.
Of Special Note: This child\'s school slate has a name inked in at the topof the outer cover side: JESSE. O. HERRMAN. It looks like this writing was done with a quill/fountain type pen.
Due to the delicate nature of this very special primitive item there will be no returns accepted...be sure to ask allquestions prior to placing your offer.An is just an outstanding example of an 1800s to early 1900s school slate!
