$9.99

Rare stereoscope view image of the 1893 Worlds Fair: Columbian Exposition Fire at the Colds Storage Building. Card by b.W. Kilburn. Lower edge of card reads 8232 Burning of the Cold Storage Building, Fifteen brave Firemen lost their lives, July 10th, Columbian Exposition. Right side of card reads Copyright 1893, by B.W. Kilburn, back of card reads Photographed and Published by B.W. Kilburn- Littleton, N. H. Card has an image of the Cold Storage building ablaze, it was the building used to house all of the food for the concessions at the fair and also housed a massive chimney used by the refrigeration system within its white cupola. The cupola was poorly designed and caught fire, and 15 firefighter were trapped and killed in the subsequent collapse of the building caused by the fire. A rare image of a deadly disaster. Card is in fair condition- it does have a crease that goes vertically through the card slightly to the right of the centerline of photos. Left 1/8\" edge of right photo shows the crease, two tiny pinprick spots of photos, some very light foxing. Overall still a good view of this historic tragedy.I accept Paypal, payment is due within 7 days of end of sale. I ship via USPS First Class Mail, in rigid mailer.
