Sterling Silver Teapot - Antique Victorian

A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver teapot; an addition to the silver teaware collection at AC Silver

This exceptional antique sterling silver teapot has a circular compressed form onto four bracket style feet.

The body of this fine Victorian teapot is embellished with chased floral and foliate decoration accented with scroll designs.

The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered, shaped cartouche surmounted by a chased decorated eagle with wings outstretched.

The cartouche displays a bright cut engraved crest of an alce-style creature*, above the contemporary engraved initials \'SSK\'.

This Victorian teapot is fitted with a hinged hallmarked domed cover encircled with a shaped band of chased floral and leaf decoration.

The cover is surmounted with the original, large and impressive hallmarked sterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of a gourd on foliate decoration; this finial is an exceptional piece in its own right.

The impressive ribbed C scroll handle is ornamented with a large, chased decorated single leaf design which is incorporated into the shaped thumbpiece and upper terminal.

The impressive swan necked spout is ornamented with layered leaf designs incorporating textured chased decoration to the shaped sockets and scrolling leaf designs to the lip.

This fine Victorian teapot is supported on four scrolling bracket style feet embellished with chased stylised leaf and scroll decoration.

This exceptional teapot bears the same hallmark credentials and is crafted in the same style as the coffee pot A2726; they would sit very well together.

* An alce is a wingless griffon; a creature commonly known to have the hindquarters of a lion and the head and talons of an eagle. In this instance the crest is a hybrid in the form of a Simurgh, with the head of a dog instead of a bird.

Condition

This antique teapot is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The chased decoration to this piece is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside and part hallmarks struck to the cover, handle and finial are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian to top of thumbpiece 15.7cm / 6.2\"

Dear Mr Campbell Thank you very much for sending the pearl necklace: it arrived only a couple of days after purchase, beautifully wrapped and packaged, at 8.30am - so you have a first rate courier service! Could I also say how pleasant and how helpful the girl I spoke to on the telephone was. Her enthusiasm for the necklace, and for the quality of your products, decided me when I was not quite sure this was the item I wanted. Cheerfulness, enthusiasm and courtesy are not often encountered in this kind of call. It was a real pleasure!
So congratulations on your staff! Very best wishes TJ G
Cheriton Bishop, Exeter, UKDear Mr Campbell Making purchases from half way round the world is always an interesting experience. You do the best you can and hope. I can say, with no rear of contradiction, that my dealings with AC Silver and Andrew Campbell is certainly worthy of Front Bench status.
The two George III bottle neck rings were of the first quality, and thoroughly described and generously photographed. The transaction itself was smooth and without flaw. Packing and shipping were without incident and arrival was exactly on time.
It was the \'poster child\' for an ideal transaction. Thank you LG, Venerable Wine Paraphenalia,
