This beautiful bottle was used in Victorian times around a woman\'s neck filled with smelling salts (I believe to revive her if she was feeling faint from a too tight corset!). It is in excellent condition with no dents or breaks in the silver. There is a loop on the silver band around the neck of the bottle to be used to hold a cord or chain for the piece to be worn around your neck. There is a \"G\" monogram on the top. The top has a few markings which are hard to read. One is \"sterling\". There is also a \"W\" with a circle around it and \"02\". It still retains the original glass stopper inside. The glass bottle has several tiny flecks on the outside which are hardly noticeable. On the inside opening (where the stopper sits) there are a few very small chips to the glass and to the stopper. None of these chips/flecks is sharp or rough and they are very minor. The piece measures 3 1/4\" long.
