For sale today is a beautifully restored flat top stagecoach trunk. I did not find any patent dates on this neat old stagecoach trunk and based on 40 plus years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1850\'s\' to 1870\'s which makes this neat old flat top as much as a 148 years old years old - a true antique. This is a very nice medium size trunk in excellent restored condition.
This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid, has multiple coats of clear and four original slats. The two original hinges are HD, tight and the lid closes well. The center lock is a cover plate only, has been polished, there is no key and the lock does not work. The original tray is long gone and the interior has been removed. The metal/tin is in good condition. The cloth lid stay is new to the trunk. There are 4 solid hardwood slats in a golden oak color. New black leather handles were installed with the new end caps.
This lovely old stagecoach trunk is 32 1/4W, 17 1/8D, 17H and weighs 26lbs. . Shipping trunks especially over sized trunks is expensive so the shipping options are local pickup (free), Fedex and Greyhound Bus. Buyer\'s option on the shipping. Any item purchased will be shipped no later than the first business day after the Paypal payment hits. Any overpayment on the s/h/i will be refunded. These trunks are antiques with most of them being well over a 100 years old. They will have dings,dents, tears, old repairs, new repairs, cracks in the wood and separations in the metal. Any new parts will be mentioned in the description. Please look at all the pictures as they will give you a very good idea of what you are offerding on.
