Piece for sale is an antique Art Nouveau hand hammered pewter bowl, BCM / Tudric, England, 0287. Designed by Archibald Knox and made for Liberty and Co. circa 1900. It is a handled bowl of low form having openwork shamrock borders, central turquoise and green enameled well. Beautiful piece.
Measures approx. 11\" long from handle to handle by 1.5\" deep. Actual enamel disc is around 4.5\" across.
Provenance: Estate of Sam Sitterle (San Antonio, Texas, 1927-2012), one time co-owner of radio stations KAPE and KESI, antique store operator and international collector.

Archibald Knox(1864-1933) was born in the Isle of Man of Scottish parenthood. His designs are synonymous with British Art Nouveau and he is regarded as being a prominent influence on the Arts and Crafts Movement. His Celtic designs and calligraphy are world famous and iconic in the Isle of Man. Today, both his metalwork and jewellery for Liberty & Co as well as his watercolours are highly sought after.
