More photos to follow very soon folks.We have been advised and found online that what we have here is an antique Ottoman Empire
fine linen embroidered towel or Yaglik.
A very early collectors piece in museum quality,circaaprox 1750-1800..We have been told it was bought by the previous owner in the late 1970\'s in sale and had been part of a collection of textiles amassed by a lady who had traveled the world with her husband who was in the diplomatic corp.
In a bright still vibrant colors,it is woven with a pattern of stylised flowers and what look to be butterflies.
The embroidery is very fine on this piece with lots of silver and gold bullion embroidery.
The embroidered ends of the Yaglik are in excellent condition but the linen in between is discolored and has some
damage which l have shown in the photos.
In excellent vintage condition with no major issues apart from those listed,the colors are still strong and vibrant.Theembroidered ends had been folded and framed for many,manyyears but the frame was broken
so we re-moved it.One side which had been on display is slightly faded but the other
the colors are stillas fresh as the day it was embroidered.
The embroidery techniquecountedstitches neat and worked reversible,not distinguishing between front and back.
We have found out it is a very famous Ottoman design that might be called \"The Sultan\'s Garden\".The piece measures 60\" (150cms) long by 21\" (53cms) wide.
