This exquisite pet canary/finch bird house was made by Osborn Mfg located at 79 Bleecker St. NYC, NYMade in 1878.Slide out bottom tray for easy clean up and brass handle make this a most decorative bird cage.Ornate brass corners to fortify joints adds to elegance.
This cage was perfect for finch or canary size birds and measures sixteen inches tall and thirteen inches wide. It is eleven inches deep.About the manufacturer: George R. Osborn born September 4, 1831 in New Haven county, Conn. In 1860 he spent six years working as acontractor in manufacturing guns at the Remington armory. In 1866 hewent toChicopee Falls, Mass.engaged in the manufacture of birdcages, being thefirst to make the bright metal cages now so popular. After a few years hesold out his interests there to two parties and in 1867 he tookhis machinery, andstarted the Osborn Manufacturing Company, at 79Bleecker Street, NY and continued making birdcages there.
