Antique Victorian Era French Cut Crystal Tear Drop Shape Scent Bottle Gilt Sterling Silver Cap Estate Perfume.This excellent quality antique Victorian era cut crystal glass scent bottle with a decorative gilded sterling silver mount. Dating to the 1840s-1860s period, the bottle is made of elongated ovoid shaped crystal body, typical of the period and has a rounded base which was made to lie down or sit inside of a travel case. The edges of the flacon are bevel cut.The hinged silver top has a delicate hand engraved design with flowers, leaves and dot scroll work. The hinged lid opens to reveal a tiny cut glass stopper, these are often lost to time. Stamped on the mount with a very small French silver hallmark (boar). The bottle stands just 3\" tall, the base measures 1.25\" wide. No chips or cracks.The scent bottle has general overall wear that is commensurate with age, please see all photos. This would make a fantastic addition to your scent, smelling salts or perfume bottle collection or just a pretty display piece on your vanity.This item came from a large collection of rare and high end perfume bottles from a longtime collector in Italy who had a private museum.
