A stunning antique Scottish 15ct Gold Seed Pearl set Starburst Holbein (Pendant/Brooch) dating to c1895, which was made in Glasgow by the highly respected firm of J. R. & W Laing(please see the detailed close-up photographs provided, which form anintegral part of the item\'s description).
This wonderful Victorian Jewelis such a versatile & stylish piece of jewellery; having been fashioned as a Holbein it can be worn either as a Pendant or as a Brooch, just as you desire. Ithas been crafted in a \'Starburst\' design in finest 15ct Gold, consisting of a six point star with a further six smaller \'round\' terminals radiating from the centre - all set with fine Seed Pearls to create a jewel that is just sublime.
Typical of the period this fine quality Pendant/Brooch is stamped \'15CT\' on the reverse confirming that it is made from solid 15ct Gold.The overall condition of this piece is quite superb with only light wear commensurate with age; it comes with it\'s original removable Pearl set bail and only requires the addition of a chain should you choose to wear it as a Pendant.
This fine quality antique Scottish 15ct Gold Holbeinhas the following dimensions: it is approx 3.5cms long (including the bail); approx\' 2.3cms wide; and it weighs 4.6 grams. Itcomes in it\'s original fitted case, as shown, from the manufacturing Jewellers who made & retailed it - the firm of J. R. & W Laing of 10 Gordon Street, Glasgow. The case has a good hinge & push button clasp, which work just as they should; overall it is in good condition, with wear to the surface commensurate with age as shown.
