Sterling Silver Teapot - Antique Victorian

A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver teapot; an addition to our silver teaware collection





This fine antique Victorian sterling silver teapot has a circular rounded form.

The body of the teapot is embellished with fine and impressive chased floral, foliate and scroll decoration incorporating a scroll bordered vacant cartouche to either side.

This Victorian teapot is fitted with the original hinged hallmarked domed cover which retains the original fine and impressive hallmarked sterling silver bud and foliate finial, secured to the interior with a wing nut.

The domed portion of the cover is further ornamented with chased floral and leaf designs.

The lower portion of the impressive hallmarked C scroll handle is ornamented with a chased decorated stylised leaf, floral and scroll design incorporating panels of scale motif diaper pattern below the plain thumbpiece.

The upper portion of the handle is embellished with a chased leaf design.

The fine and impressive panelled swan necked spout is ornamented to the underside with a chased decorated central leaf motif with a floral and leaf design to either side.

The spout is further embellished with an applied scrolling ornamentation to the upper portion of the lip and a large chased decorated leaf motif encircling the shaped socket.

This antique teapot is supported on four bracket style feet embellished with scroll and leaf decoration with impressive chased leaf decorated sockets.

The underside of the teapot bears the retailer’s mark ‘Lambert & Rawlings\' and \'Coventry, St London’ amidst the full hallmarks.

Condition

This antique teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and part hallmarks to the finial, handle and interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian to top of thumbpiece 16.3cm/6.4\"
