Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Whiting Vesta Match Safe, Holly And Mistletoe:

This gorgeous case has a lovely design of holly leaves and berries and also mistletoe. It was made in 1885 by Whiting Manufacturing Co.- this silver company was later bought by the famous Gorham silver. An earlier example of a match case with flora, the condition of this piece along with its construction is fantastic.

Materials: Sterling silver, as indicated by the word \"sterling\" stamped on each inner lip of the case (pictured). The Whiting hallmark follows with the W and griffin, and it is marked 620.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Normal surface wear consistent with age, but barely any. Lovely patina, very oxidized. The hinge is sound and the case closes tightly and completely. The striker at the bottom is not worn down either. The condition is quite striking for how deeply worked the silver is!
