This is a lovely antique Victorian period circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate brooch.PLEASE NOTE: The brooch has been made from what looks like a bracelet part and could be an exact match to one of the bracelets that I have currently listed.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stone is a stunning red and white carnelian agate from near Cupar in Fife.
The brooch has a nice sterling silver frame which although not having any hallmarks has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is sterling silver. The width is 3.0 cm ( One and a fifth inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
