This is a beautiful antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate brooch.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stunning stones are classic green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum and mustard jaspers from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire.
The brooch has a nice sterling silver frame which although having no hallmarks has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is sterling silver. The brooch is 3.3cm ( one and a third inches ) in length and it has a good working and original pin and C clasp.The brooch also has a loop fitted on the back to fit a safety chain if required.
