This is a stunning antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate stick pin.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stunning stones are orange Campsie Fells jasper from Stirlingshire, green and red speckled bloodstone from the Isle of Rum, rare gold moss agate from Burn Anne in Ayrshire and grey banded Montrose agate from Angus.
The pin has a nice sterling silver frame which although having no hallmarks has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is sterling silver. The pin is 7.0 cm ( Two and four fifth inches ) in length with the head being 1.6 cm in length ( Two thirds of an inch ).
