Antique Vintage China Chinese Stone Rubbing Print Confucius 50\" x 26\" Description
A beautiful antique Chinese stone rubbing print.
Would look gorgeous on a wall.
Provenance: Estate. This was purchased by a Teacher who lived in Shanghai and taught English. It was purchased by her in the 1920\'s or a bit earlier. I am not sure the age of the rubbing when it was purchased back then.
It came from the estate of the teacher\'s son. He indicated the print was rolled up and stored away for many, many years until it was given to him when he was older. The son had the rubbing \"museum quality\" framed. The rubbing is done on thin rice paper and in this case mounted to a board and framed. No glass on front.
From what I am told by the owner they no longer are allowed to do these rubbings.

Artist: Unsure but listed as a Design attributed to Wu Daoxuan
Circa: unknown-but purchase in 1920\'s so 1920\'s or earlier.
Medium:Stone Rubbing Print on rice paper
Size:50\" x 26\"\" measurements taken with the frame
Weight:Approx. 10 lbs.
Condition:This has been beautifully framed. I show in the photo where there is an 1/2\" area at the top right a the edge of the frame where you can see a little of the backboard that the paper is mounted on.Very nicely taken care of over the many years it has hung in the son\'s residence.
