This is an all original item - an Arcade Crystal #3 Coffee mill/grinder with the original hopper and catch cup. The item is completely original - it has not been repainted or touched up. I found this in at my family home in Scranton, PA. It was wrapped up in some old newspaper and in a brown grocery bag. It has been stored this way for a very long time. I did not see a date on the newspaper that was falling apart ... but it had articles that were talking about the activities of then President Johnson. I believe that the 4 mounting screws included with the grinder are likely original for the as well (if indeed it shipped with mounting screws). It is missing the bolt that connects the spring base for the catch cup to the grinder.
It is in remarkable nice condition for the age. The paint on the cast iron shows signs of wear but not as much as you might expect and the paint still has a nice shine to it in most places. The spot with the most paint wear appears to be the tray that holds that catch cup and the ring where that is pulled to release the catch cup. The wooden grip on the handle is also in fine shape.
The glass hopper is in fine shape. There are actually bubbles inside the glass walls from when it was originally manufactured. There are some very small chips in the top of the glass ... mostly on what appears to be on a small ridge of excess glass above the top edge of the jar from the original manufacture. The bottom edge of the hopper has some very minor chips (what some people call flea bites) on the very edge. None of these small chips are visible when the hopper is attached to the grinder and the original cap is screwed on top. The tin cap also appears to be in fine shape - showing it\'s age (it is not shiny on the outside) but very clean without dents or scratches on the outside (there are small scratches on the shiny inside of the cap likely from the coffee beans over the years).
The original glass catch cup is also in particularly fine shape. There are no obvious chips that I can see on the cup itself ... but if you run your finger around the edge you can feel every so slightly a rough spot or two where there is something that can truly be described as a flea bites - not even really visible ... perhaps 3 or 4. The lines that you see on the bottom of the catch cup in the photos are from it\'s manufacture - they are not cracks.
All in all this is in very fine condition for it\'s age and it is complete!!
It measures about 19 inches tall when fully assembled, about 8.5 inches deep (to the end of the handle) and about 6 inches wide (not counting the handle extended sideways). The handle itself is about 7 inches long. It weighs about 5 lbs and 4 oz.
