The History

Mother ofPearl is a beautiful type of Mollusk shell lining that is used in jewelry. Ithas been prized for thousands of years for its Iridescent beauty and they wayit lights up jewelry. It can come in many different shades.

These earrings are marked \"Sterling\" and they DO NOT come with backings. There appears to be a slight scratch on one of the Mother of Pearl stones on the right side near the bezel. This is very hard to notice but is worth mentioning.

The Piece

These earrings each feature a huge hand cabochon cut and polished Mother of Pearl stone. The Mother of Pearl showcases an off-white, iridescent hue. The stones have been shaped into ovals and sit within the center of the design of the earrings.

The earrings are crafted out of solid sterling silver and are completely handmade. The general motif of the earrings is a large oval with 3 silver dangling tassels beneath it. The artist hand Repousse hammered the \"puffy\" dangling tassels. The silver work surrounding the bezel is simply gorgeous; the riveted border creates a floral feel to the design. There is a rope twist border around the bezel as well.

The earrings measure 2 and 1/4\" tall by 1\" wide. The Mother of Pearl measures 7/8\" tall by just over 1/2\" wide. The design includes posts for pierced ears, but no backings.
