The HistoryThis beautiful piece was made during the Victorian Period! The Victorian Period is famous for its very rare & elegant hard to find designs! Queen Victoria was the ruling monarch for this time period (1837-1901) hence the name (Victorian).
Agates are semi-precious stones that are a variety of chalcedony formed from layers of quartz. The stone usually shows varicolored bands with rounded nodules or veins.
Agates form over time when an empty pocket develops inside of a rock. Microcrystals will form layer-by-layer and vary in color and arrangement due to changes in pressure, temperature, and mineral content. Each agate is unique because of these changes and even slabs cut from the same specimen will vary in color and design.
