An antique/vintage wax bust of a woman that needs some TLC. This head dates from the Turn of the Century/1900. She is life size.
The bust is now separated into 2 pieces; the head with part of the neck and the upper chest with another part of the neck attached to the armature. The good news is that the face, head, ears and part of the neck are intact and stable. Please study the photos to see the distressing on the face. The largest ding is on the right side of the forehead. There are many smaller dings and scratches on the surface of the face but nothing serious. No cracks. There are 2 small areas on the cheek and above the eyebrow on the right side of the face that are lighter then the rest of the face. She has brown glass eyes with her original rooted eyebrows, eyelashes and auburn hair.
As you can see in photo #3; the neck piece attached to the armature fits perfectly into the head on the left side. In the other photos it doesn\'t look like it fits because the head does not sit perfectly on the base. A previous owner attempted to restore her by adding a rough wooden armature and crudely joining the broken wax pieces of the upper chest. There are also 3 loose pieces of wax. The larger loose piece fits onto the back of the neck. This piece measure 7 inches wide X 2.5 inches at it\'s widest point.
For display purposes you can find a pedestal (like the one pictured in Photo #2) and display only the head that way. You can wrap fabric around the neck area to hide the missing areas; like a scarf or a Victorian high necked dickey. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PEDESTAL IS NOT INCLUDE IN THE SALE.
If you want to restore the head, it may be possible to melt down pieces of the upper chest and use the matching wax to fill in the missing neck.
