This is a quite old folk art wood carving that is a 5 link chain carved from a single piece of wood. These were quite popular in the late 1800\'s and early 1900\'s and sometimes had a ball in a cage but other variations exist. This one has variations of link styles. On end on ends in a 4 sided or square part with what look like it might have had little feet or protusions at the corners but are now worn or broken off but been this way a long time. Two of the links are just plain kind of rectangular shapes with rounded ends, one has a geometric solid figure in middle with smaller links at ends fro a little variation and one end has a smaller oval shaped link which has some chipping or a chunk out of one spot but doesn\'t go clear through or separate the link. Look at photos. Guaranteed and old one with great original patina and wear. Probably pine. Total length approx. 13-1/2\".
