Antique/vintage Goebel Bisque Porcelain Figurine W/ducal Crown Mark-damaged:
Up for sale is an antique, pre-Hummel period Goebel bisque porcelain figurine ca. 1910-20 of a mother getting her two children ready for school. The details are outstanding, exemplifying the high quality work of the maker. It bears one of the earliest Goebel marks, known as the Ducal Crown mark. Unfortunately it is damaged in two areas as seen in the photos. 1) it has a small chip mark on the front base and 2) it appears the boy’s head was broken at some Point and reglued. it’s hard to see at first so look carefully at the photos. A flawed but still beautiful rare antique Goebel piece.
Note: I’ve been contacted by someone who suggests this piece was made after WW2 not ca 1910-20. I am not a Goebel expert but have relied on one for this information. I’ve done my best to describe the piece accurately.
