HISTORY OF THIS ITEM

All the magic items listed come from unsold stock of mygrandfather’s business, The Novelty House, which he ran from Kennebunkport,Maine in the late 1920s through the 1930s. Some have prices from that timewritten on the boxes or envelopes. Most have suffered some damage from dust ormoisture, and all are sold as-is with specific damage listed if any.

My grandfather was a Royal Flying Corps/Royal Air Forcepioneer in World War I, whose dogfights included at least one with the RedBaron, and after the war he helped found the Royal Canadian Air Force. Afterre-settling in Canada, he moved into Maine as a sales rep for two Canadiancompanies, and then he gradually made a transition to being self-employed andsettled permanently in Maine. He was also a registered Maine Guide.

He started his business with novelty magic tricks because hehimself was a magician, who did shows at a variety of venues starting in the1920s. Later, he moved on to other gift items, which he continued to sell untilhis death in the 1980s.
