This was collected in the 1950\'s in Bolivia and has been hanging in our home since then. It is a large stunning example of the renowned folk artistG Arias; an Aymara Indian . I believe it was carved in the 1940\'s but am not sure. It is mahogany wood , rich tones and deep relief. I have not attempted to clean it, it is in original condition but has no damage apart from natural signs of age. No scratches or cracks . I. It is said he carved when he needed money for food and it is a bit ambiguous as to whether he was born in Boliva or Mexico. The sculpture is ready to hang and measures approx. 53cm across by 40cm high ( 20\"X 15.5\"). I have been told the people depicted are Indigenous people with a culture dating back to pre-inca times.
