Arne Jacobsen Model 3172 Oxford Dining Chairs.. This design is considered one of Arne Jacobsen\'s most outstanding chair designs. These particular chairs were specified by renowned designer, Philippe Starck as part of an interior package at a chic hotel in Beverly Hills.. The tall sculpted silhouette of these chairs in white was a perfect fit for Starck\'s cool modern room design. These werewere used for desk, dining, conference table and activity uses.These are \'Republic of Fritz Hansen\' product made in Denmark, with a 2007 production date.The armless Oxford #3172 chair is the tallest version of Jacobsen\'s Oxford chair with a 35\" back height from seat level. These appear to be covered in a soft white leather or leatherette (it is difficult for us to verify or determine with certainty, so we mention both here). These may have been a custom contract order for the hotel, but they appear to be the armless Oxford 3172 model, with swivel base.
These are used chairs, but they are in very good condition, with some very minor wear and tear.. Some may have an edge scuff or a nick in the upholstery, but nothing major. They could look almost perfect with some detailing and touch up.

We do not ship, but we will cooperate with buyers who can arrange and handle their own shipping. If purchasers arrange and pay for their own crating, packing and shipping we will assist with coordination of pick-up and hand-off logistics at our location.

When the Dean of St. Catherine\'s College chose Arne Jacobsen to build an extension for the college, he was also commissioned to design the surrounding landscape and a furniture series for the college. The chair\'s extra tall back served as a symbol of prestige and created a space of its own. The \"professor\'s chair\" later evolved into the Oxford series. In spite of initial protests and uproar over the commission of a foreign modernist, Arne Jacobsen received an honorary doctorate from Oxford, upon completion of the project. This groundbreaking example of total design is, today, considered Arne Jacobsen\'s most outstanding work.
