SOLID SILVER CIGARETTE CASE
Offered for sale is this impressive solid hallmarked silver cigarette case made by the prestigious Mappin & Webb. This seems to be quite a unique piece as it has engine turned decoration with the 7 panels being hammered. The cartouche to the top left has not been inscribed which is always a bonuswithcigarette cases. The interior is gilt, which is in very good condition, showing very little wear at all. The inside bears what appears to be the original elastic strap which would have held cigarette in place. Could still be used today as long as your cigarettes aren\'t too long as theses cases were made to accommodate the size of cigarettes back in the 1930s. Could also be used a a card case. This case is a fine example of Art Deco craftsmanship at its best.The case overall is in excellent condition for age, shows very little wear and tear. The only negative thing I can say is that there is a slight indentation where the cartouche is, this caneasilybe pushed out by a jeweller with the correct equipment. Measures 10x8.5cm and weighs 135g.
