1930s Celluloid Handbag Frame

• Tested early celluloid handbag frame in a faux tortoiseshell design

• In very good condition, hinges and push button clasp opener all sound

• Stamped inside with the number 42 or 4 and 2 - I am unaware of what these numbers signify

• This item is very early celluloid and when heat is applied or friction caused it gives off a very strong smell of camphor which dates it as very early celluloid

• Please note: I would not advise heat testing this item as it is likely to be flammable. Few pieces of original celluloid exist in such good condition due to early pieces being of a flammable nature. Ordinary use - if required - will not be hampered by this

• There are small holes along the edge of the item for sewing fabric onto to form a loose or shaped handbag

• A rare find and a very collectable item - a great addition to any collection or a fantastic Christmas present for a collector or admirer of celluloid or other vintage plastics
