What an unusual piece! This is true Art Nouveau, all hand made, with a beautiful Madeira citrine flashing a deep brandy, red and gold. I absolutely love this stone and think it is a stunner. Its difficult to find a modern citrine with this much flash.
The design is very cool-- this was surely a custom piece. The scrolling leaves/wings and protruding \"antenna\" make me think of a scarab beetle. I took this to one of my antique dealers and he agreed that this was an Egyptian Revival piece, dating to the turn of the century. There is a small white unusually cut diamond extending from the bottom of the ring-- on the other side there is a stylized lotus flower, The shoulders are split and the ring has a low profile. It is currently a 5.5 but could be resized.
Condition is very good, the citrine is a bit loose due to some chewing along the bezel. This could be easily fixed. Under magnification you can see a tiny chip right near the bezel-- I only noticed it after looking at this ring several times-- its not visible at all on the hand. The stone has some minor wear otherwise, but the facets are remarkably sharp. Its just a beautiful and one of a kind piece. Great for those who have a November birthday!
