An exquisite antique Art Nouveau French .800 silver chain mail mesh silver lady\'s chatelaine coin purse decorated with a lovely Egyptian Revival motif. The decoration features the bust of a pharaoh or the head of a majestic Sphinx, flanked by a pair of outspread wings with beautifully detailed feathers. Further enhanced with stylized Egyptian lotus flowers and foliage. The framework includes a kiss-lock closure and has a loop ring so the purse can be worn on a lady\'s chatelaine or belt. The purse is of quality chain mail links opening to reveal a hinged interior divider. Marked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000. Stamped Depose. The loop ring marked 800. In overall good condition with general wear, no holes or tears to the beautiful mesh chain mail. Measures 2 3/4\" length x 2 3/8\" wide across the frame. Weighs 48.2 grams.
