Absolutely the finest quality. The Art Nouveau locket with the repousse raised engraved image of water lilly flowers and leaves is extremely rare and wonderful. And it is a wonderful large size! The locket is gold filled. It is adorned with the most beautiful design. This is done in repousse which is raised work and then the details are engraved. The image has the beautiful nature inspired lines of the art nouveau period. The reverse of the locket has a lovely Renaissance Revival floral motif. On the inside are the 2 original photo holders and one side has the perspex (early plastic) covering. It dates to the Art Nouveau Belle Epoque period - 1900-1940. A rare find!!! The condition of the locket is truly extraordinary with really no dings or dents, considering that the locket dates to the Art Nouveau period. A truly wonderful period jewel! The locket comes from a very fine New York City estate collection of lockets. Please see our other sales for more lockets from this estate.The locket is in superb period condition. There is no apparent damage to the metal. The locket is 60 mm tall and 42 mm wide not including the bales. The link chain necklace is 28 inches (72 cm) long. The locket and chain weigh 54.6 grams.Treat yourself or a loved one to a treasure to cherish for generations and one which will only increase in value over time!
