Up for offers is this beach find antique oak wood cannon bore brush from the Great Lakes.
The cannon bore brush or cleaner measurea approximately 20\" in length and would have been used to push down into the bore or cannon barrel to clear out any remaining gun powder residue between firings.
The brush was found many years ago washed ashore on the banks of Lake Michigan just south of the light house in Wind Point, Wisconsin after a heavy storm in 1994. Among other beach washed artifacts lying closr to the brush were wood timbers and evidence of tied bundles of hides. Apparently, the storm had disturbed one of the many old sunken ships resting on the lake bottom for many, many years and wadhed them up.
The artifact comes with a two sided letter of origin from the finder.
In over 30 years of collecting and studying shipwreck artifacts this is the only one I have ever come across.
The artifact comes with a custom wood display stand and is ready to display in ones shipwreck artifact collection.
Great Lakes shipwreck artifacts are difficult to come by.
Good luck!
Also, please be sure to check ot my other shipwreck artifacts all being listed on now!
