This booklet or \"Part\" as they are known are how the original subscribers to the Royal Octavo Edition received their prints. When J.T. Bowen and the Audubons completed a group of five bird images and the accompanying text they were loosely bound with paper covers and delivered to the subscribers. When the subscribers received a complete volume worth of images and text they had the Parts unbound and then rebound in leather hard covers. These intact original booklets are much more rare than the Octavos themselves since most subscribers had their complete volumes bound and most prints on the market were cut from bound volumes. This represents a great opportunity to buy an interesting piece of Audubon history
