Art Deco
Josef Hoffmann, architect and designer, was one of the most importantdesigners of the 20th century andco-founder of WienerWerkstätte and Vienna Secession.
He always intended to create a whole work of art and was active in allbranches of handicraft in order to provide sophisticated interiorsforbuildings planned by himself.
His design developed from curved Jugendstil to geometrical shapes andclear ornamentation.
The decor \"Mythos\" (myth) which he designed for Augarten PorzellanVienna in 1929 is the perfect example for the change in his attitude.With its reduced black lines it is still as modern as nearly 90years ago.
\"Mythos\" still can befound in luxurious coffee and dinner services manufactured by AugartenPorzellan Wien nowadays.
The box offered here is a new edition; it has a square shape with abulged lid and isdecorated with the famous handpainted \"Mythos\" decoration.
