~ Free Shipping ~Up for sale today is this Authentic 1784 George Washington Hand Signed Vellum Document. This vellum document is from Philadelphia May 5, 1784 for membership into the Society of The Cincinnati to Colonel William R. Lymond Lee. Document is partially hand printed in areas and ink signed by George Washington and Secretary of the society. The signature is light but is very legible. This measures 21\" x 14.25\". The vellum document has been restored and preserved by J Franklin Mowery in Venice Florida with original invoice and documentation. The vellum was dry cleaned to remove surface dirt, then humidified for 5 hours until the vellum was limp and pliable. It was then flattened on the vacuum suction table flipping it several times during the drying process. It was finally encapsulated in a Mylar holder. The Society of the Cincinnati is the nation\'s oldest patriotic organization, founded in 1783 by officers of the Continental Army and their French counterparts who served together in the American Revolution. Its mission is to promote knowledge and appreciation of the achievement of American independence and to foster fellowship among its members. Now a nonprofit educational organization devoted to the principles and ideals of its founders, the modern Society maintains its headquarters, library, and museum at Anderson House in Washington, D.C . George Washington was the first President of the United States as well as the first President of the Society of the Cincinnati from 1784 till his death in 1799. This is a fantastic piece of American History.
