Good rule of thumb: If you think you are stealing a long lost masterpiece for $4000 - you\'ve just been ripped off. Just because a seller is from Indonesia, with 100% seller response, it doesn\'t mean his ceramics are authentic. Buyer beware.*** PLEASE SEE OUR OTHER GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC CHINESE CERAMICS FOR SALE***14TH CENTURY YUAN DYNASTY (1271-1368) LONGQUAN CELADONBARBED RIM LOTUS DISH, FROM THE LONGQUAN KILNS,SOUTHERN ZHEJIANG PROVINCE, CHINA
With deep sides, the center of the interior decorated with a lotus blossom, with leaves encircling it, under a consistant sea foam green glaze. The cavetto (slanted area between center and rim) exhibits 22 hand-carved fluted grooves. The barbed rim alternates between inward and outward points. Rear of dish displays 26 hand-carved fluted grooves extending from base of rim to the foot. Glazed foot and edge of rim exhibit the usual random unglazed spots burnt red in the firing. The same goes for the unglazed clay firing ring on the base within the foot. 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm) diameter, 2 1/8 inches (5.3 cm) deep
NotesAt times, one will see dishes of this barbed rim type referred to as Ming rather than Yuan period. Not an unreasonable assessment considering the Ming Dynasty did begin in the mid-14th century (1368). That said, traditionally, and to this day, dishes merely fluted in the cavetto - without additional design in the cavetto and rim - are most frequently dated to the Yuan Dynasty. Many dated diggings confirm these dates.
