This reproductionis cast out of a fiber reinforced, high strength polymer concrete. This one looks like the ones that are carved out of the native \"Lava stone\", andis allot less expensive. The original that this wascast from, was hand carved by an Easter Island native.I was able to aquirethese particularly rareoriginalon my last tripto the island. All statues that were erected on ceremonial platforms were given eyes and a \"topknot\"... at one time 238 stood on these platforms, but were pulled down during the tribal wars 200 to 300 years ago.

The native that carved this statue intended it to be a similar replica of the statue that is standing near the town of \"Hanga Roa\".
