Model/ Type / Description: Up for sale is an authentic pre World War One ( WWI ) Prussian infantry officer\'s strait sword. This sword features a double fuller, and strait blade design that was superior for thrusting and guarding. The left ricasso is stamped \"Z\" inside of a *CROWN* with two dots, which was the company stamp for Clemen & Jung in the late 1800\'s. The sword comes with an authentic portapee, which was correct for this style of sword. The knuckle guard has the cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm II, with second cypher on the sharkskin grips. The grips are bound to the wooden hand guard grip by three different strands of braided brass wire. The blade measures 32.5\" long, with an overall length of 39\".

Condition: This sword is in used, but overall \"Fair\" condition. The blade has areas of significant corrosion on the quarta (first quarter of the blade), with speckling, patina, and pitting on the rest of the blade\'s surface. The leather scabbard tab has developed a white film, as the leather tab on the opposite side of the guard. The \"D\" shaped knuckle guard and cross guard have areas of worn, pitted and scratched materials, with discoloration of the metals from the decades. The sharkskin grips are in tact, and are bound tightly to the sword with the three braids of wire. The pommel cap has a gap between the sword\'s full tang and the back of the pommel end piece, along with scattered tooling marks and pin prick erosion. The portapee\'s bulb is frayed, but has not come unraveled. The portapee cord has frayed and dulled colors, but is intact. The M1889 was a favorite among Prussian officers, and enlisted men before, and during the beginning of World War One. This model has a wonderful maker\'s mark, which sets it apart from the \"run of the mill\" unmarked war-destined swords of the period. The presence of the highly detailed Wilhelm cyphers is a huge plus, as is the correct portapee. This sword has some corrosion on the blade, but has its sharkskin grips intact, with beautiful wire settings. offer with confidence, check out our response and other items.
