A rare opportunity like this comes once in a life time. We have the honor of selling a collection of9 Authentic Amish quilts. They were used in Amish households and not the type that were sold to the tourist trade. All were made during the golden age of Amish quilt making which was circa 1900-1910 era.

Many traditional examples, with correct size, borders, binding and quilting patterns. Made of wool and other fabrics. All the colors that the Amish used in their clothing and was accepted by the old order Amish.

Our grouping of9 comes from a private collection, purchased during the hey day of Amish quilt collecting starting in the 1970s. The hype during this time was so crazy, many flocked to Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Buying up all that can be found. It was an awakening to this folk art like none ever seen before or since. During this time, our grouping of9 were found and stayed with thiscollector for over 40 years. They were shown in exhibits in Europe, Japan and worldwide.

Original Amish quilts from Lancaster County Pennsylvania are scarce to find from c 1900-10 era. They are treasured worldwide by collectors. The simple people blended solid colorsto createamazing works of pieced quilting art.

An amazing jewel tone greenborder. Finely quilted baskets with braided handles.

This example has considerable wear, but I love that you can see what they used for batting which was a blanket. You will love this one for study!

Measures78 x 76inches

Breathtaking fine hand quilting that measures15-16 stitches per inch.

Border10 inches and binding1inch.

Fabrics are wool and other. Thin batting. Binding hand sewn.

As you will see,wear, holes, tears, bleed,age/other spotting.Retired to the family blanket chest afteryears ofuse :)

This quilt was used by an Amish family and it makes it all the more special to a collector.

A beautiful quilt for study, publish, exhibitand marvel over. This type is so scarce to ever find.
