These earrings were madeduring the middle Victorian period. Theyare true to the era and are crafted with silver on top and gold on the back;ie, Silver over Gold. The diamonds areall Old Mine Cuts and I estimate the total carat weight to be .80CTW. Old Mine Cut diamonds are some ofthe original diamonds which were cut for jewelry. They have 58 facets like the modern cut diamonds; however, they generally have smalltables, steep crown angles and deep pavilions.The original diamonds were cut before the discovery of electricity sothey were faceted to sparkle under candlelight.This pair of earrings is a beautiful example of old cut diamonds and oldworld craftsmanship.
