My Dad served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Berlin after VE day. When he came home in 1946, he brought back a lot of souvenirs from the war. We have been sorting through his memorabilia and have decided to list some of his things on . There are several dozen items - I will be listing them over the next few days. Please message me if you have any questions about the items. He was a meticulous record keeper, and left notes with almost all of the items. I will do my best to describe them in detail.
Yay! I think this is my last item! Dad brought these binoculars home from Berlin. They are Lomara binoculars, manufactured in Berlin. Lomara is better known for selling microscopes, and I think that these binoculars are pretty rare, especially in the US. I researched them pretty thoroughly and could only find one American reference to them - in a 1922 edition of Field and Stream Magazine (vol. 2 pg. 214). However, there are several pairs online for sale in Europe. They still have their original leather strap in excellent condition. And they have their original leather carrying case. There is a gouge in the leather in one corner of the lid (photo 11) - otherwise the leather is in great condition.
